Remote Laboratory System for Automatic Engineering

The training of specialists in automation in Cuba is carried out through the career of Automation Engineering that has within its fundamental disciplines, the Control Systems discipline. For the development of laboratory practices, students work on physical or remote devices, in person or remotely, in the latter using Remote Laboratory Systems. The present investigation proposes a Remote Laboratory System for the practice of control of the Automatic Engineering career. A scale thermal process model is designed for experimentation. The main result was the availability of practices for system identification, controller design and controller execution in real processes. In addition, the implemented solution allows students to carry out studies of the behavior of the temperature variable, the controller's response in the designed process, the establishment times, among other variables.

Submitting BIM to the Educational Plan for the Faculty of Architecture According to NARS and ARS Standards

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has imposed itself as a powerful engineering and technological tool over time. It's even become mandatory in some countries (UK) and is gradually gaining more and more awareness worldwide. Although that, BIM education is still a new concept even in some countries that are already implementing it in their various engineering and construction projects. This research aims to conclude with an educational plan and curricula for the faculty of architecture that contains BIM as the core of it. The methodology used in this research is the online-structured questionnaire, distributed to students and staff of the faculty of architecture at Al-Baath University which is the case study of this research. Architecture faculty undergraduates and graduates with different degrees were surveyed by an online-structured questionnaire, and the results of the questionnaire were gathered and analyzed using google forms. This study concludes with the proposed modified plan and curricula for the previously mentioned faculty in the light of the theoretical study, questionnaire results, and similar experiences around the world. This new plan is expected to prepare a new generation of architects who are High-tech qualified and fully aware of BIM and its general ideas, which makes it easier for these architects to emerge within the job market and fulfill AEC firms' requirements of course this would also help to promote the university's reputation and help to spread BIM education among other local universities and also to other engineering competencies.

A Novel Intrusion Detection Framework Combining Light Feature Engineering, GAN-Based Feature Generation, and Attention-Driven Deep Learning for IoT MQTT Security

MQTT-based Internet of Things networks face major security problems because they have high-dimensional data, class imbalance, and no detection mechanisms that can be understood. This paper proposes a unified intrusion detection framework that integrates attention-based deep learning, GAN-driven data augmentation, and MDA-based feature selection (CNN-LSTM-Attention). The proposed pipeline outperforms both classical and recent state-of-the-art baselines. When tested on MQTTEEB-D, a real-world MQTT dataset with 200,000 flows, an accuracy of 99.12% and macro F1-score of 98.37 were achieved. However, the attention maps provide clear explanations for the obtained prediction, and the system performs well even against tough attacks such as SlowITe: 96–98%. Moreover, the system's very short inference time makes it possible to deploy on a real IoT gateway with limited resources. The synergistic combination of feature engineering, generative augmentation, and interpretable deep learning sets a standard for reliable and effective IoT/MQTT intrusion detection.

Engineering Training and its Importance for Building Information Modelling

The AEC industry in Syria is facing different issues, such as poor management and performance, and the increase in costs of change orders due to the poor implementation on site. These reasons made the issue of training engineers an urgent demand to become qualified to enter the engineering labor market and help implement the construction projects the right way, especially that the reconstruction phase might take place in the near future. In the last decades, BIM proved to be of  a great help for engineering projects for it can integrate work withing projects and help engineers in all the project phases to introduce sound models and documentation with less time and more efficiency.  In this article, a survey has been used to measure different parts of engineering work reality to know how it would serve Syrian engineers in applying modern technologies and methodologies, like BIM, in their projects. This research would provide more knowledge about the engineering reality in Syrian companies, and thus it would open the door for preparing plans and strategies to get the Syrian companies more involved in adopting new technologies and methodologies, especially BIM, in their projects and training. The research showed that Syrian educational bodies need to allocate more time and effort to qualify engineers and help them keep up to date with the latest technologies. Also, Institutes are taking a huge amount of time to implement the digital transformation. All that is due to the lack of engineering and technological knowledge and experience that is influencing the AEC sector in Syria, where most engineers didn’t experience working in new-technology-and-methodology-based projects. This research is a sample from the work that is being done to survey greater segments from all the Syrian governorates, with the analysis of the engineering training and its importance in adopting BIM and digital modeling.

Proposing a Framework for Introducing the Concept of Engineering Digitization to Develop Curricula: Case Study - Tishreen University, Faculty of Civil Engineering

The emergence of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology has made a major development in the fields of engineering and construction and has provided a means for documentation and design management throughout the building's life cycle. Despite this, the construction sector suffers from a clear shortage of specialists equipped with work skills, and therefore there is a gap and lack of skills. In order to meet the future needs for the skills of using (BIM) technology in the labor market, it was necessary to take serious steps to introduce BIM in education programs in Syrian universities to prepare future specialists, so this study aimed to identify the current reality of teaching Building Information Modeling (BIM) and to identify obstacles and challenges that prevent the application of (BIM) and propose a framework for introducing the concept of engineering digitization to develop curricula at Tishreen University, Faculty of Civil Engineering. The study used the descriptive survey method, and to collect data, two questionnaires were developed, which were applied to a sample of (32) faculty members from all disciplines of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. The study also used the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) program to analyze the results of the questionnaire. The study showed a positive awareness of the culture of building information modeling among the various disciplines of civil engineering, despite the presence of many challenges and obstacles facing the implementation of BIM, and the study provided a general framework for the integration of building information modeling (BIM) technology with curricula The most important recommendations indicate the need to enhance awareness of the BIM culture and its applications by offering specialized training courses for academics in the use of modern technological tools based on BIM as an effective educational tool that can be integrated into the teaching curricula.

Neutrosophic Environment and E-Learning: An Investigation into Student Satisfaction and Attitudes in the College of Engineering

Ever since the transition to online learning, students from across the globe have familiarized themselves with the use of e-learning. This research paper aims to investigate students’ attitudes towards e-learning and measure students’ level of experience in using the e – system among students in the College of Engineering in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Furthermore, this paper explores the predictors of students’ perceived satisfaction with the e-learning system quality that is integrated to facilitate e-learning. Descriptive analysis and stepwise multiple regression were chosen to achieve the paper’s objectives. Data analysis demonstrated that Engineering students showed a positive attitude towards the e-learning system and were identified with high self-efficacy and a high level of experience in using the e-learning system. In addition, multimedia instructions, self–efficacy, and e-learning system quality were found as significant predictors of students’ satisfaction with the e-learning system; however, the interactive learning activities as a predictor of perceived satisfaction did not reveal any statistical significance. Also, this paper used the DEMATEL method to analysis the student attributes and compute the weights of the attributes. The DEMATEL method is a MCDM method due to the attribute of student are neuromas so the concept of the MCDM is used. The DEMATEL method integrated with the neutrosophic sets. The neutrosophic sets is used to overcome the uncertainty and the vague data.

Incorporating BIM into the Academic Curricula of Faculties of Architecture within the Framework of Standards for Engineering Education

Governments and the architectural, engineering, and construction industry (AEC) around the world have paid great attention to the application of Building Information Modeling in their projects due to the many advantages it offers, which called on educational institutions to include BIM in their curricula and to qualify new graduates with the competencies and expertise necessary to keep pace with development and to supply the cadres of AEC companies.This research presents educational frameworks and current approaches to integrating BIM into educational curricula around the world, and critical success factors for integrating BIM into education. In this research, an educational BIM framework was proposed based on the research and studies presented in the BIM and Education field and a detailed work plan based on engineering standards (ABET – NARS) for the BIM integrating process in the Faculty of Architecture - Damascus University. The work plan was based on a gradual transition for BIM integration, starting from the first year to the fifth year within three levels.The proposed framework was verified by the academics at the Faculty of Architecture - Damascus University through conducting qualitative interviews to evaluate and improve the framework Comments were taken into account when developing the final proposal. At the end of the research, many recommendations and future directions were presented.

Application of Artificial Intelligence Tools with BIM Technology in Construction Management: Literature Review

Nowadays, the construction sector industry energizes all other industries to diversify their service areas, nonetheless this sector needs to keep leading with technological developments. Following the adoption of Building Information Modeling technology (BIM), the construction projects has become more controlled and coordinated, which has contributed to improve productivity rates and to rationalize resources usage. This research is studied the developments in construction, especially technologies that adopt artificial intelligence (AI) with BIM technology such as machine learning, Augmented Reality techniques (AR), digital assistants, robots, automatic planning, scheduling, and optimization. These techniques can be used during design and construction stages to improve collaborative processes that have become a cornerstone of BIM technologies, as well as financial control and scheduling. Through using BIM, the construction industry can adopt AI technologies like autonomous systems and rely on machine learning in project management to access AI-based project self-management.

Quality Assurance of Construction Design and Contractual Phases in Syria Within BIM Environment: A Case study

Globally, the Quality Management System Research in the construction sector has not received sufficient attention compared to the industrial sector. The modern construction industry is known as complex due to magnitude of the projects on one hand, and the diversity of the works included in the project, on the other hand. The establishment of projects is no longer limited to the implementation of a few types of work or activities in the project. However, it is increasing in response to the overall technical and urban development of life, and to the increasing requirements of the beneficiaries of these projects. Projects nowadays are integrated and complex systems of different works and contracts, which are connected with each other to perform the overall function of the project, which, in return, has evolved as well as its qualitative content. This research aims to improve the quality of design, and contracting phase of the State Company for Engineering Studies in Damascus’s projects, by examining the current reality of practices and methods in quality management during the designing stages and pointing out its weaknesses. Determining the factors affecting the quality of the contractual phase of the company, through a survey published online. Twenty-two engineers working in the company have responded. It was estimated that the company's realities and the extent to which the employees understood the importance of quality.  Through this research, a system of procedures was proposed to ensure the quality of design and contractual phases with ISO 9001: 2015 Integrate it with building information modelling technology that addresses or overcomes current problems. Using BIM provides an effective means to increase the overall quality of the company's projects.

An Optimization Model for Assessment Resilience Engineering in Social Technical Organizations as a safety Management Paradigm

 An innovative safety administration paradigm, resilience engineering (RSE), is becoming more popular in today's sociotechnical organizations. It is thought that the properties of complicated social and technical structures better align with RSE. Especially when it comes to measuring and modeling, RSE is much more difficult due to its various criteria character and the inclusion of both qualitative and quantitative latent components. Using the extant neutrosophic TODIM (Portuguese of interactive and multi-criteria decision-making) approach, this study seeks to create a neutrosophic mixed multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) framework for assessing and evaluating resilience. Several indicators of resilience were defined as part of the first assessment methodology. After that, the neutrosophic TODIM technique was used to assign relative importance to the various resilience indicators and to rate the effectiveness of the various operational units. As an illustration of the model's efficacy, we conducted a risk assessment of a gas refinery, a prototypical sociotechnical structure.
